Canadian Dance Assembly
CADA/East looks to the Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA) for advocacy for dance, particularly in the federal arena. CADA/East is an organizational member of CDA, and additionally, a portion of all members' membership fees are allocated to the CDA, making all members of CADA/East members of the CDA.

Culturebot - www.culturebot.org
- An online information hub dedicated to building arts
communities online and offline. It was initially launched as a blog for
Performance Space 122 in New York and is now independently run by founder
Andrew Horwitz as Culturebot Arts & Media Inc. A platform for artists,
audiences and organizations to share discourse, Culturebot is a recognized
leader in performance, criticism, art and culture.
Canada Dance Map - https://dancemap.cda-acd.ca/
- In 2011 the Canada Council for the Arts, in partnership with the Ontario Arts Council, launched the Canada Dance Mapping Study to identify, quantify and describe the ecology, economy and environment of dance in Canada. In 2019 the Canadian Dance Assembly, the national service organization for dance, re-developed the mapping site and now manages and maintains the map.

CADA/East's Community Consultation - Urban and African-based Dancers
- Through the support of an Ontario Arts Council Arts Service Project grant, the Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists, in partnership with COBA and Gadfly, carried out a series of community consultations in the African Diaspora and Urban Dance communities. With a desire to understand how we can best serve the diverse field of dance in Ontario, we reached out to communities that have so far been underrepresented in our membership. CADA/East engaged Soraya Peerbaye, independent consultant, to carry out these consultations and write final reports on her findings. Access the findings here.
Choreographing Our Futures by Shannon Litzenberger
- CADA/East member, Dance Artist and Policy-Thinker Shannon Litzenberger recently completed a three-year Metcalf Arts Policy Fellowship, researching and writing a report on the future of arts support in Canada, and reflecting on changes the field has seen in years past. CQRHQ Competency Profiles
- The Conseil québécois des ressources humaines en cultures (CQRHC - Quebec Cultural Human Resources Council) in collaboration with the Regroupement québécois de la danse (RQD) has prepared two documents outlining the results of an occupational analysis of the professions of the Dance Rehearsal Director and Choreographer. Both documents were created out of a desire and need to affirm the specificity of these roles. Artists who practice these professions can refer to both documents in order to have their expertise recognized, as well as to evaluate their skills and determine areas where they can pursue additional training. It is a useful guide in hiring specialists and writing contracts.
